Planet Fashion launches ‘Grande’

Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, recently launched its new premium retail format `Planet Fashion Grande.’ Driving the growth of its Planet Fashion retail format, the company opened its first Planet Fashion Grande store at 100 ft Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore.
Designed by Blocher Blocher Partners, a renowned German architectural firm, the store has an international and contemporary look. Done in clean and neutral shades of white and grey, the store shell compliments all brands present in the store. And enhancing the shopping environment, the visual language of the store has been put together by Liganova, an international brand retail company specializing in visual merchandising.
Spread over 15,000 sq ft, the store spans over four levels offering merchandise for men and women. The international floor has brands like Calvin Klein, Nautica, Esprit & EDC. To compliment these, there is a section on accessories with international fragrances and sunglasses. The Ceremonial floor offers male wedding trousseau, with the largest collection of designer Sherwanis and wedding accessories. The suit section offers formal as well as evening wear across brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen and Allen Solly. Adding to this, there is a section dedicated to custom tailoring, where the suits will be custom tailored at the company’s factory set up with Italian collaboration. The ladies section, offers the prêt line of Ritu Kumar, sarees from Satya Paul, pure ethnic collection from Seven East and ethnic fusion range of Global Desi. On the formal front the store houses AND, Allen Solly and Van Heusen Women. All this is complemented with footwear & handbags. The menswear floor is an exhaustive storehouse of choice with brands like Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Levis and a range of footwear from Metro.
Planet Fashion Grande houses selected brands covering all relevant clothing options. According to the brand, research has shown that most customers seek to be stylish but find themselves puzzled by the plethora of brands that most large format stores offer. This insight has been the basis of merchandise planning architecture at the Grande. Mr Shoaib Farooqi, COO, Planet Fashion, International Business and Trade Sales says, “In our store, options aren’t galore. We only offer exhaustive merchandise across handpicked brands. That is what differentiates us from other retail formats”.
Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, plans to open 15 such stores across India by the end of the next fiscal. The next store of 18,000 sq ft is ready to open in the Karol Bag shopping district of Delhi by the end of the year. In addition to metros, towns like Surat, Indore, Dehra Dun and others are in the pipeline.
Launched in 2001, Planet Fashion today has 145 stores across 97 cities, with a retail turnover of Rs 240 crore, and last year registered a growth of 25 per cent.
