Platt Retail Institute Launches Education and Training Division

24th January 09, Bangalore Building on its global reputation as a leader in research and consulting to the digital communications industry, Platt Retail Institute (PRI) announced today that it is establishing an Education and Training Division.  The Division will offer programs to educate both new and established digital signage users on key aspects of digital media including deployment, network management, content development and measurement.  The Division also will work with hardware/software companies and resellers to offer employee training and certification.

"This new Division is a natural outgrowth of the services and products that PRI provides to the digital communications industry," said Director Steven Keith Platt.  "And to develop and manage this new Division, I am pleased to announce that Margot Myers will join PRI as Director of Education and Training.  She brings great insight into issues facing companies that are using or planning to deploy digital signage networks, and her communication skills make her ideally suited to manage this new Division for us."

Myers has been a Board Advisor to PRI since 2005.  She collaborated with Platt and other PRI Research Fellows on two Working Papers:  Implications for Retail Adoption of Digital Signage Systems in 2004 and Deployment and Test of a Retail Digital Communications Network by the United States Postal Service in 2006.

Prior to joining PRI, Myers was Manager, Retail In-Store Programs, for the U.S. Postal Service.  She was responsible for managing the messaging and point-of-purchase materials displayed in more than 32,000 Post Offices.  An early adopter of using technology to enhance communications, she installed and managed an employee-facing communications network in the mid-'90s in more than 600 postal facilities.  In 2004, she deployed and tested The Post Office Channel, a digital signage network designed to communicate with customers in postal retail lobbies.  She also oversaw a major retail standardization initiative aimed at providing a consistent, reliable retail experience for postal customers.
