Accord rides high on OOH Advertising; offers 100 fully A/C double decker buses to BEST

3rd March09,Mumbai.Not long ago, the BEST wanted to phase out double-decker buses. Now, the undertaking not only wants Mumbai to retain its beloved monsters, but it also plans to introduce them in an air-conditioned avatar.
Accord Advertisement Pvt Ltd has offered to provide 100 fully air-conditioned double-decker buses to the undertaking in return for ad rights at bus stops and on the buses.
Initially, 10 buses are proposed to be operated on a pilot basis. Depending on response, the fleet would be increased to 100.
Confirming the same with Outdoor Asia Magazine, Anil Kannambille Co-founder Accord Advertising Private Limited said, “In a proposal submitted to the BEST committee on Monday, the company has sought advertising rights on the exteriors and interiors of the buses and at 1,000 bus stops across the city. We have also proposed to have our own colour scheme for the buses and publish ads on the back of tickets to be sold in them.”
In 2006, the undertaking had proposed to retain just 75 double-deckers. This was strongly opposed by citizens and BEST committee members, who said the buses, introduced to Bombay's streets in 1937, evoked nostalgia and charm
