Shakedown in Bangalore’s OOH

30th July 2008, Bangalore: The government of Karnataka has issued a statement outlining a set of regulations to curb billboards and other banners within the BBMP limits in Bangalore.

Following are the set of rules:

The issue of fresh licences for installing hoardings and self advertising boards has been stopped within the BBMP limits.

Henceforth permission will not be granted by the BBMP for installing and displaying flex boards, banners, buntings, cut-outs etc. for any occasions like public meetings, birthday celebrations/ festivals, religious functions etc.

Display of the existing commercial and self advertising hoardings will be allowed to continue only till the expiry of the currently valid licences.

Every hoarding should compulsorily display the commencement and expiry date according to the license issued.

The guidelines were issued on July 30.
