Kolkata Outdoor Advertising Association takes up the issue of E-bidding
25th July'11, Kolkata
In its recently conducted meeting on 24th June 2011, the OAA Kolkata took up the issue of ‘Reverse Tendering’. The meeting which saw active participation by media owners was called to protest against the practice of e-bidding which excludes the media owners from the procedure of bidding, while they are the actual proprietors of the property being bid for. The salient points discussed were:
• The media owners bear the burnt of the cut in price by the bidder
• The fall out from the above is that the quality of the campaign shifts to a low gear because of various related reasons of undercoating
• The general practice in this trade is that there is practice of credit period of approx 60-90 days and in case of a new successful bidder coming on to the scene, the credibility of the said new bidder poses a big question mark.
The OAA Kolkata Secretary Nirmal Thankur categorically revealed that a letter has been sent to the members of the association and the OOH agencies notifying them about the association’s stand on the issue of e-bidding. The association has requested all the members to lend support in this endeavour and if there are any unsavoury dealings on any ones part then that part shall be blacklisted by the OAA & all punitive measures at the disposal of the association shall come into play.
